Online Conferences Term 1, 2022 - Registrations close 8am Wednesday (6 April)

Amesbury School will be holding our first set of conferences for 2022 this week - on Wednesday 6 & Thursday 7 April. This is where we we report on student learning and progress.

Conference bookings will be closed at 8am on the morning of the first day of conferences - Wednesday 6th April.

Due to the current Omicron outbreak, these conferences will be held online. This means all conferences will be held via video conference, and the meeting will be between parents / caregivers and their child's whānau teacher, as a chance for them to connect. We would also like tamariki to attend these online meetings, where possible. It gives parents and caregivers, tamariki and kaiako (teachers) the chance to discuss their child's progress, their learning levels and social development.

Please read the article with all of the booking information, including how the online conference will work, and who you need to book a conference time with, if you haven't already done so. The article was sent to you via Hero on 18 March and is also included in this week's Amesbury Digest Hero notification.

RATs available at school (if needed)

We have a supply of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) at school, thanks to a supply from the Ministry of Education and, an additional supply, from a local healthcare provider. If any of you find you are struggling to access RATs, or you find yourselves in sudden need of some tests, please pop into the school office or contact us and we will get some to you.

Swimming Lessons in Term 2 - Registrations close Thursday

Swimming lessons for the whole school will be taking place in Term 2. As swimming is part of our PE curriculum, we encourage all students to sign up to the lessons.

All of the details are included in these articles:

You are asked to please complete the form by 7 April for each of your children whether or not they will be swimming.

Easter Raffle - Fundraising for Camp

In Term 4 our year 5 & 6 students will be heading to El Rancho for our end of year camp. Given the substantial cost that is involved when organising a school camp, we will be fundraising at different times throughout the year. We currently have a fundraising goal of $5000. We will update the community with our progress towards this goal following each of our fundraising events.

This term, we will be holding an Easter raffle. This raffle will be largely the same as the raffle that we held this time last year. We are asking that all Year 5 & 6 whānau donate a new and unused Easter item that can be included in our prize packs. Some examples of things that could be donated include Easter eggs, Easter craft items, small packaged toys and new books. Please do not donate any used toys as we are unable to include these in our prize packs due to Covid safety. We will have a donation box in the office where students can place their donated items. We will then arrange the prize packs ready for the prize draw. We are welcoming donations anytime until Monday 11th April.

Tickets will be available for purchase from Wednesday 6th April on the school Kindo shop. Tickets can be purchased for $2 each. Winning tickets will be drawn on Wednesday 13th April. The 10 winners of the raffle will receive a gift basket containing a range of items donated by our students. We encourage all of our Amesbury Whānau to purchase raffle tickets as the raffle prizes are not exclusively for Pōhutukawa Whānau.

Koru Hub - Term 1

If your tamariki are in Koru Hub or you just want to know what's been happening in there during the term, check out Amaria's overview. It is well worth your time.

Thank you Bamfords

Bamford (medical suppliers in Lower Hutt) have provided us with free antibacterial surface wipes, hand sanitiser foam and cleaning/disinfectant sprays on two occasions now.

We really appreciate their generosity and encourage you to purchase their products as a way of saying 'thank you'.
