Hybrid Learning at Amesbury School

Since the advent of covid, flexibility is the name of the game. Less than a week ago - it seems so much longer - Urs and the teachers were merrily putting the final touches to the planning for the school year. Red level came along and turned that all on it's head. And they now know that there will be a lot more pivoting to be done yet.

As a part of preparation for teaching and learning to occur whether at school or, as circumstances require, at home the school has developed a hybrid learning model to be used going forward. What is hybrid learning and how will it work at Amesbury? Please take the time to read the Hybrid Learning at Amesbury School article which will give you an understanding and information on what to expect.

School Activities

On the school activities front, lots of planned events have either been postponed or re-imagined so that happen in a different way. Our first and foremost thought, as it has always been, is to keep our students, staff, and Amesbury Community safe and, unfortunately, that has restricted the ability to hold events that regularly bring the whole Amesbury whānau together.

This is a long-winded way of saying that while we will continue to list events in the notices, there may be last minute changes so please keep an eye on the School Calendar which we will keep up to date and also keep an eye out for Hero notifications.

Amesbury School at Red Level

We all now know about the Covid Protection Framework and that that the whole of New Zealand is currently in Red level. But what does this mean for Amesbury, its students, staff and parents? Please take the time to review the Amesbury School at Red Level article as it affects us all.

Co-curricular Lessons

All students who are continuing with their co-curricular lessons this term have already secured their places by paying their invoices. Particularly with last year's Year 6s having left we have spaces available in all of our lessons, although some are limited and we have a first come - first served policy.

If you know nothing about the lessons please read the Co-curricular Lessons article and also our webpage. Please email John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) if you have any questions or you wish to sign your child up. It really is as easy as that.

Resources Request

Pōhutukawa Hub is seeking any lanyards that people may have at home. We are going to use them as a part of our mask education in the coming week. We will be designing ways that the children can keep their masks attached to their bodies when they are outside, socially distanced, and not wearing them.

We are also looking for things to decorate them with. If you have any beads, buttons, sequins etc. that could be useful, please send them to school with your child and ask them to pass them along to Kalesha.

We are also looking for any sewing materials that you may be willing to donate to us. Our children love sewing and we would like to build a bank of materials that they can use. If you have anything that you are happy to give us, please send them to school with your child and ask them to pass them along to Kalesha.

We thank you in advance for your donations - ngā mihi.
