Year 0-2 Camp Information

By: Gina Quintero | Posted Friday October 15, 2021

On Monday 29th of November, we will be going on a day trip to the ASB Sports Centre. During this day, students will be divided into six groups and will spend the day learning and practising a range of different sports and activities including athletics, gymnastics, ball skills, inflatables, netball, and futsal.

On Thursday 2nd December, we have planned for a Teddy Bear picnic at Churton Park Reserve during the day. We will walk to Churton Park Reserve and enjoy a day of games and outdoor activities. If it is wet, we will stay at school and have an indoor picnic in the hall.

That same day (Thursday 2 December), children will have the opportunity to stay for an overnight camp at school. All children will go home at 3:00pm and those planning to sleep at school will return to school at 5:00 pm (in mufti) with their gear. We will have a shared dinner altogether then sleep overnight in the hub.

On Friday 3rd December, we will have a shared breakfast for those who have stayed over and pack up the hub. We will also provide morning tea and lunch for those who have stayed overnight. The children who do not stay overnight can arrive back at school from 8:30 am with their morning tea and lunch.

Consent and Parent Help

Here is the link to our camp consent form. Please complete this form for your child/ren by Sunday the 24th of October (if you have more than one child, please fill in a separate form).

As always, some parent help is needed (and greatly appreciated) for the overnight stay at school to go ahead. We also know that it can be a big step for year 0-2 children to stay overnight, so we do have extra spaces for some parents to stay with their child. We may not be able to accept all offers of help. There is a section on the consent form to fill in if you are able to help with any part of the camp. All parents staying overnight will be required to undergo NZ police vetting and to have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Cost

We are still confirming costs for this camp but we expect it to be no more than $25 for those staying overnight and no more than $10 for those not wanting to stay overnight. This includes the day trip, dinner on Thursday and breakfast, morning tea, and lunch on Friday.

If you do not want your child to take part in the overnight stay, they will still take part in the daytime activities. If your child changes their mind and wants to stay overnight, we will not be able to make changes to this from Friday 19th November.

Invoices for the cost of this camp will be added to your account in the online shop, and payment will need to be made by Friday 19th November.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s whānau teacher with any questions about this year's camp.
