As part of our annual programme of emergency evacuation and lockdown drills, we will be running a 'full' evacuation drill on Friday 25 June, requiring students to be picked up, where possible, by their caregivers/emergency contacts.

The “full” drill will happen on Friday 25th June at 2:15pm.

Please read this article for all of the details including the significant role parents play in the evacuation drill.

Ministry of Education Photo Shoot at Amesbury School - Monday 21 June

Urs has produced an article on a Ministry of Education Photo Shoot which will take place at school on Monday (21 June).

In the article Urs has set out the parameters of the photo shoot, including the specific consent required from parents. If, having read the article, you do not wish for your child to be involved please contact your child's whānau teacher or Urs (urs@amesbury.school.nz), the latter of whom you can contact with any additional questions.

What has Pōhutukawa been up to?

If you have a child in Pōhutukawa, I highly recommend that you read this article written by Kalesha, the Pōhutukawa Hub Leader. I found it extremely informative and a very worthwhile read.

It covers, in detail, the content of their teaching and learning since the beginning of the year. Once you've read it you can then discuss it with your child together with their uploaded work in Hero.

Newlands Intermediate Trip for Year 6 Students

On Thursday 24th June our Year 6 students will be heading Newlands Intermediate for a visit. This will allow the students to take a look around the school and make some connections with the teachers and students at Newlands.

We will be leaving school at 8:45am so we ask that students are seated in the library by 8:30am with their bags and shoes. Our plan is to eat lunch upon our return to Amesbury, however, to be on the safe side please ensure that your child has a packed lunch.

If you have already decided that your child will be attending another school next year and do not want them to come to Newlands with us, please email Kalesha to let her know:  kalesha@amesbury.school.nz. If we do not receive an email from you, we will assume that your child is going on the trip to Newlands Intermediate.

Contact information

With the pick up drill on Friday it is vital that we have this information up to date.

Please email Rachel at office@amesbury.school.nz if you move address, change contact numbers or would like to update the emergency contacts that you have listed for your child/ren. Remember that only authorised people (those listed on a student's record, as primary and/or emergency contacts) are permitted to collect students from school in the event of an emergency evacuation/pickup.

Precious Labels

Orders for Precious Labels can be easily placed via the school kindo shop.

Sushi

In Term 2 we are trialling sushi lunch orders on a Friday. See the menu. If there is enough interest we will continue in Term 3.

Order can be placed via Lunch Online for dumplings, rice and a variety of sushi. Soy Sauce is free of charge but you will need to select it, as it is not automatically included with orders (as many children don't like it).
