Parent Information Session

The Information Session for parents of new students and also information on the new Linc-Ed Hero student management & communication system was finally held last Tuesday.

We apologise for the short notice which meant that some of you may have been unable to attend, however, we are well through Term 1 and it was important to get information out to parents as soon as possible given the previous postponements due to covid restrictions.

Below are the links to the presentations made. These are a good refresher for those that attended and also provide information to those not in attendance.

Movin' March - Dress up your Transport

This Friday 19th March we are going to be holding a fashion show for anyone who wants to take part. All you need to do is let your children dress up their bike, scooter or even their shoes!

There will be spot prizes and prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

We are looking forward to seeing all the creative ideas come out.

Hindi Lessons

A reminder that if you are interested in Hindi lessons, these will be held after school during Term 2.

Please register your interest by completing this short Google form. Please respond by Monday 15th March.

Fundraising

In Term 4 our year 5 and 6 students will be heading to Curious Cove in the Marlborough Sounds for our end of year camp. Given the substantial cost that is involved when organising a school camp, especially to the South Island, we will be fundraising at different times throughout the year.

Raffle

This term, we will be holding an Easter raffle. Please note that we are trying to make this process as easy as possible, and, therefore, it may look a little different to what you are used to. Instead of sending ticket books home with students, we are planning to send out a Google on Tuesday 23rd March which will include some photographs of the prizes. On this form, you will be able to indicate how many tickets you would like. You can fill this form out as many times as you like to ensure the correct name is attached to each ticket. We will then put each name in the draw once or more depending on the number of tickets attached to the person’s name. Tickets will cost $2 each. We ask that the money to pay for your ticket(s) is placed into an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name and handed in to Rachel at the office.

The winning tickets will be drawn on Monday 29th March. The 10 winners of the raffle will receive a gift basket containing a range of items donated by our students. We will also be donating ten percent of our proceeds to The Wellington Free Ambulance Service.

Mufti-Day & Bake Sale

We will also have a mufti-day on Friday 16th April (the final day of Term 1) where students are not required to wear their school uniforms. Given that this is so close to the Easter break, some children may wish to wear Easter themed clothing to school on this day. We know that these days can be quite fun for tamariki and we will hold a cat-walk show at lunchtime to give the children a chance to show off their outfits! We will be asking all students who take part in the mufti-day to make a gold coin donation that will also go towards our Year 5 and 6 camp at the end of the year. Each hub will have a clear collection point for these donations.

Following the mufti-day, we will hold a bake sale in the central courtyard from 3:00pm - 3:30pm. The proceeds of this will also go towards our South Island Camp. If you would like to buy some baked goodies, please remember to bring some cash with you as we will not be able to accept any other form of payment.

Future Fundraising

We are always looking for support from our Amesbury whānau with fundraising and will send out some more information next week regarding future fundraising ventures. If you are able to help us with any of these events, please contact Kalesha by sending an email to kalesha@amesbury.school.nz.

Entertainment Book

It's that time of the year and the Entertainment Book is available. However, the Entertainment Book’s changed a bit. In fact, it’s no longer a book at all.

Instead, what was once the Entertainment Book is now an easy-to-use app that’s updated every few minutes – instead of once a year. That means that you receive even more possibilities to discover, more experiences to unlock, and more rewards to share.

You’ll still get a full 12 months of membership (no matter when you sign up). You’ll have the same great savings you’ve come to expect. And you’ll be able to make the same difference for the causes you care about.

To sign up, please follow this link

Not only do you get tremendous discounts on a wide range of products and services, you are supporting the school at the same time.
