School Notices: 12-17 October

Sunhats: Remember school sunhats are compulsory for outdoor play/activities next term. If you need to purchase one ready for the summer term, please place your online shop order now!  

Amesbury Athletics Day: Our Amesbury School athletics day for Years 3-6 is happening on Wednesday in the first week back! It will run from 10am-2pm at Newtown Park on Wednesday 17th October.  Any parent helpers would be greatly appreciated to ensure the safe and smooth running of each event.   Article link.

Resource request: Term 4's construction elective and Te Rito Hub need some resources to create with. We would gratefully accept donations of newspaper/ small boxes/ clean plastic bottles/ egg boxes/ lunch wrap tubes (not toilet rolls) and unwanted craft materials (e.g. feathers, stickers, buttons). Thank you for all of the donations so far. 

Gardening club: In term 4, our keen gardeners will be planting some summer vegetables. If you have any excess seeds, leftover plants or self-seeded vegetables/flowers growing in your garden, we would love to plant/replant these in our school garden. We garden on a Friday and any donations of items could be dropped with Gemma in Te Rito. Thank you.

Co-curricular lessons (the classes below would be $10 per lesson): 

  • we have 2 remaining places in our "beginner level" year 4-6 speech & drama class. 
  • we have 1 remaining place for a group drum lesson - experience would be preferred as this group has been together for a few terms
  • we have 2 places left for beginner rhythmic gymnastics (years 1-3). 

Lunch time clubs

This term we will have a number of lunchtime clubs running. The following activities will be open to all students:

➢ Tuesday – Girls only Tech with Lisa

➢ Wednesday – Tech Club with Lisa

➢ Thursday – Origami with Kalesha

➢ Friday – Gardening Club with Gemma

The library will also be running lunchtime activities each day:

➢ Wednesday – Readers Only/Librarians Day

➢ Thursday – Visitors Reading To Day

➢ Friday – Book/Craft/Create day

Miniball: Reminder there will be no Amesbury Miniball teams in term 4. 

Quiz Night Summary: thanks to all those who attended our Quiz night at the end of last term. We raised $1496 and we are very grateful for the donations that were received for raffles and for the support of all those who attended on the evening. 

KELLY SPORTS TERM 4

Kelly Sports will be back in Term 4 with their fun and exciting classes. Kelly Sports encourages children to have fun, build confidence and to give sport a go. We believe that sport and physical activity has so much to offer young people; it improves fitness, develops communication skills, team work and gives them a place to channel their energy.

Summer Fun in the Sun! (Yrs 1-4) –Fridays 3.05pm-4.05pm. Come and try Athletics, Touch Rugby, Tball and Ultimate Frisbee. It’s a great way to try new sports, learn new skills and improve ability. We use games & drills to teach game sense and team play. Learn the fundamental skills for all sports – throwing, running, jumping, striking, balance and many more – all while having a great time!
