Tamariki from Kōwhai to year 3 participated enthusiastically in a range of swimming races and fun-filled aquatic activities. We were incredibly proud of our students' sportsmanship and excitement throughout the event.
Lane swimmers enjoyed the challenge of racing against their friends, practicing their best freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. They also loved getting to do some fun races - including trying to swim while holding a cup!
For those who participated in the swimming activities, the clear winner of the morning was the ever-popular ‘egg and spoon’ race, providing loads of laughter and fun. The ‘cup-filled-with-water-on-head’ race came in a close second, with an honourable mention going to the hopping race. Perhaps the most adrenaline came at the end of the carnival when tamariki needed to speedily change back into dry clothes, with some finding that their second sock, or shoe, was nowhere to be found (cue frantic teacher search)!
Our heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated parent volunteers whose support (and willingness to get wet!) made the event possible.
