New Co-curricular Activities Available in 2024

If you are interested in any of the following or potentially interested, please contact John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) and let me know so that we can gauge an idea of the numbers that we will have involved. We have received a pleasing amount of interest in the new activities already.

Are there other activities that you would like us to look at setting up? We've had a few since last week but we really want to know what you want, not what we think that you might like.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Our older students will remember Ellie, our Rhythmic Gymnastic teacher. Ellie provided a really popular programme which, unfortunately, we had to discontinue when Pōhutukawa needed the hall for their teaching and learning. Fortunately, she is available to come back and she is keen to share her passion with our ākonga.

Dance

Olivia is passionate about dance. She loves using dance to encourage her students to have a positive and fun approach towards learning, expressing themselves and increasing their physical and mental health.

Since gaining her Bachelor of Creativity from Te Auaha Institute of Creativity she has been teaching dance to all levels and ages. She teaches jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, contemporary, and acrobatics at Wellington Dance Academy Performing Arts.

She is excited about inspiring Amesbury school students on their learning journey! She already teaches some of our tamariki at the Dance Academy.

Singing/Vocals

As an Estill trained vocalist and voice instructor with more than ten years of experience Tamsyn has the ability to contribute to our students' vocal growth significantly.

She is passionate about seeing students find their passion for singing, grow in confidence, understand how their voices function, and how to use them well in any genre or style. She will find out each student's passion and teach to that, using songs that they like.

Fun and connectedness is at the heart of her teaching method. In a vocal lesson there is an incredible opportunity to work one on one or in small groups.

Recorder, clarinet & saxophone

Chris has been teaching these instruments for a number of years and, having found someone as passionate about wind instruments, it was a great opportunity for us to have him join the co-curricular music team to teach in an area that we are not currently providing.

Other Lessons

We are currently looking into some other lessons that have been requested and trying to find suitable teachers/coaches/mentors to provide them.

However, if you have any ideas for new activities that you would like us to look into providing please contact John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) and let him know.

Equally if you have any questions about anything related to our Co-curricular Programme please don't hesitate to contact John.
