Onaitta Setefano

Onaitta Setefano - Teacher, Pōhutukawa Hub Co-Team Leader & Learning Lead)

Talofa lava,
My name in Onaitta. I am a born and raised Wellingtonian having spent my childhood in Lower Hutt, my teen years in Karori, and after some time away from Wellington, I returned to where it all started.
I always knew I wanted to work with children in some capacity which is what led me teaching. I had been working as a Youth Worker and Teacher aide and LOVED every moment of it. I knew then that I wanted to get into Education as a career and spend my years uplifting, nourishing, and preparing our children for the world they will live in as adults.
I gained my BA in Anthropology and Human Services at the University of Otago in Dunedin before taking time to travel overseas and work. I then returned to study and gained my GradDip in Art History through Victoria University of Wellington, followed by a GradDip in Teaching (Pri). Amesbury was one of the schools I completed my Teaching Experience at and, thankfully, I am now a member of this wonderful team!
Outside of school another great love of mine is art and I create as much artwork as I can, when I can. I am currently working with Watercolour paints which is a lot of fun so please feel free to come and chat with me about art when you see me around the school.
