Chrissy Turnbull-Young - Release Teacher
Although I am a new teacher to Amesbury school I am not a new friend. I have been a supporter and an honorary friend of Amesbury School since the beginning. I love how the school operates and I am really excited to be a part of a great teaching team.
I started my teaching career 6 years ago at Worser Bay school in an open plan space with three other teachers. I primarily taught years 1-3 however have had a little experience with the older children. My passion lies in teaching maths, I enjoy making maths fun and interesting for children, ensuring that it is linked in with the inquiry topic and based in a real life context.
Prior to becoming a teacher I was a wedding planner which enabled me to learn a lot of organisational skills which I use in teaching. I was raised in Hong Kong and went to a French school so I feel privileged to call myself bi-lingual. I moved to New Zealand to complete my teacher training diploma at Victoria University and have been a teacher ever since.
Recently I've had a baby named Nyala with my husband Mike and parenting has been my priority. I'm excited to be returning to teaching part time at Amesbury School and getting to know your children.
Please come and say hi, I would love to meet you!
