Kia ora koutou
I arrived in beautiful Aotearoa in November, 2017, from South Africa. I spent my first year settling my three young children in our new country. I started teaching in New Zealand at the beginning of 2019 and relocated to Wellington from Auckland during the July school holidays.
Before arriving in New Zealand, I lived in Gonubie, South Africa. Gonubie is part of a City, East London, which is located in the Eastern Cape Province.
I studied Primary Education and obtained my Bachelor's degree through the University of Fort Hare. I taught at two schools in South Africa. The grades I taught were Grade 1, 3 and 4 and the age of the children I taught ranged from six to ten. Many children I taught were from multilingual homes and often English was their second language. The children had to learn a second language at school and the languages generally offered were IsiXhosa and Afrikaans.
I love spending quality time with my family, reading and trail running.
Moving to New Zealand has been one of the greatest adventures I have embarked upon with my family. I am super excited about being part of the Amesbury School team.
