Brent de Saxe

Brent de Saxe - Teacher, Pōhutukawa Hub

Kia ora,
My name is Brent and I'm stoked to be teaching at Amesbury School this year.
I was born in South Africa and moved to the United States when I was 9 years old.  I grew up in sunny Southern California, did my Bachelors Degree in Chicago, Illinois; studied for my Masters Degree in Monterey, California and spent the last 8 years of our time in the U.S. in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon working for Brands in the Outdoor Industry.
In 2017, we were itching to get abroad for a couple of years and in July of that year moved to Wellington. We fell in love with New Zealand almost instantly and now consider it home!  We have three children: Ben who is 16, Sam who is 12, and Leah who is 9.  My partner, Jennifer, is a Sr. Lecturer in Sociology at Victoria University.
In 2020, I decided to follow my passion and went back to University to get my Teaching Diploma 15 years after receiving my Masters Degree.  This will be my second year Teaching and I am super excited to be working in a collaborative and open environment.
When not in the classroom, you will find me outside with my family, playing football socially, playing tennis competitively, listening to music, playing the guitar, or waking up super early in the morning to watch my beloved Liverpool Football Club!
I'm very excited to be joining the Amesbury Team this year and look forward to working alongside all of the children, staff, and whanau over the coming years!
