Senior Swimming Sports at Keith Spry

Three bus loads of our excited ākonga left Amesbury for the short bus journey to Johnsonville full of eagerness and anticipation ahead of the races.

On arrival, the students were quick to change into their togs awaiting the first race. Students competed in the 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly races in the main pool. It was clear to see that our students have made great progress and grown in confidence following our swimming lessons with EasySwim in Term 2.

The teaching pool was great for our swimmers wishing to do 10 metre lengths and we were lucky to have some time to spare at the end for some fun and games.

Our tamariki really enjoyed the day and each bus returned to school a lot quieter and more hungry than when they left! Our thanks to the parent helpers on the day and it was also great to see our school whānau in attendance to support our athletes.

The students who qualified for the Northern Zone Swimming event will be announced as soon as parents have confirmed that they would like to have students registered - communications to qualifying students' parents have already gone out.

The Northern Zone Event will take place on Friday 26 August 2022 at Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre beginning from 9:30am. Our best wishes to our athletes who are representing our school on this day.

Warm regards,

Eilís
