Change in alert levels

Kia ora koutou,

After the announcement yesterday, we now know that it is likely that the rest of New Zealand (outside of Auckland) may move to level 1 at midnight on Monday 21 September. This message is to outline how this impacts our events happening next week - our learning celebration and our student conferences.

Learning Celebration

The planned change in alert level means that it may well be possible for parents and whānau to attend our learning celebration next week.In order to make this manageable and give people enough time to make arrangements, we have changed the date and time of our learning celebration. It will now be held on Thursday 24th Sep at 1:30-2:30 pm in our school hall.

We recognise that the change of time will mean that parents cannot leave immediately after the celebration and pick up their children, as it will not be the end of the school day directly after the event. This is to allow for teams to have time to pack down the ‘roadshow’ demonstrations. We have student conferences in the evenings that week, and we need all learning spaces to be free and packed down for this to happen. People attending the learning celebration will be most welcome to stay in the hall until it is time to pick up your children. We will have our Amesbury’s Got Talent winners perform their acts for parents during this time.

Student Conferences

Our student conferences will go ahead next week on site at school as usual, whether we are in level 1 or level 2. Parents and teachers will not be gathering in large groups at any point during these conferences, and they are fine to go ahead. Teachers will be spread in smaller spaces across the school, and sanitiser / track and trace registers will be in use in all places.

If any parents would prefer an online conference, this is possible with all teachers. If you want an online conference, please contact the teacher you have made a booking with and request an online meeting. They will keep your original date and time of booking, and will send you a link to use for meeting online, rather than face to face. Please contact the teacher prior to the meeting day to organise this.

Once we move to level 1, it will be fine for parents to once again come onsite at school for drop off and pick up without needing to sign in. Please remember that if you come onsite outside of drop off or pick up times, you do still need to sign in at the office as per our usual school procedure.

If you have any questions about any of this information, please contact your child’s whānau teacher or Urs Cunningham.

Warm regards, the Amesbury team
